Dr. Jessica Yuan

Meet Dr. Jessica Yuan OD, FSLS

I was born and raised in Guangzhou, China. While attending college in the U.S., I worked as an optometric assistant and was inspired by the smile that glasses and contact lenses brought to patients’ faces. I decided to pursue optometry, graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry in 1997.

I believe that every patient is unique, and each eye is special. As a result, I strive to treat every patient with the utmost care and attention. I found my calling in vision rehabilitation for patients with conditions such as keratoconus, irregular corneas, and severe dry eyes. I have been helping patients with specialty contact lenses since 2015, and I became a fellow of the Scleral Lens Society in 2024. I am honored to have been nominated as a Top Doctor at the National Keratoconus Foundation in 2020, 2022, and 2023.

With the increased usage of digital devices, myopia progression among young children is a global concern. Since my son is near-sighted, myopia prevention and control is not only a professional concern but also a personal one, and has become a focus of my practice. I encourage parents to have their children examined from 3 years old, as prevention is critical throughout adolescence.

I am very fortunate to be a member of some wonderful professional organizations, which foster continuous growth for better patient care:

  • Scleral Lens Education Society
  • American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopic Control
  • International Keratoconus Academy
  • Scleral Lens Education Society

I speak fluent Mandarin, Cantonese, and some conversational Spanish, and I enjoy helping a diverse population of patients. Beyond work, I enjoy reading, yoga, swimming, sightseeing, attending church services, and spending time with family and friends.
